Description:
The incumbent will serve as primary field technician, under the direction of the Air Resource Specialist, responsible for maintaining, and operating various elements for the National Park Service/Great Smoky Mountains National Park air quality monitoring and research program. The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical and logistical support for the air quality program at the park and perform the required maintenance and calibration of a variety of air quality monitoring instruments including: gaseous pollutant monitors, visibility monitoring equipment, meteorological monitoring equipment, acidic deposition monitoring equipment, and biomonitoring of air pollution effects techniques. The incumbent will be required to maintain several monitoring stations in remote locations of the park, throughout the year. Duties also include assisting in the operation of air pollution effects research and monitoring projects, maintaining records and log files of data collected, performing data calculations, and constructing displays of air quality data.
