Qualifications: Minimum A.S. degree (or substantial progress toward an A.S. or B.S. degree) in forestry, wildlife ecology, conservation biology, ecology, or related field. |
Misc: | The 29,000 acre Research Center is located approximately 30 miles south of Albany, Georgia. The Center’s research, education, and conservation programs focus on ecology and natural resource management. The site includes 16,000 acres of longleaf pine forests, over 1,000 acres of wetlands and 26 miles of two stream and river ecosystems. |

Description: | The Temporary Hourly Conservation Technician will assist in all aspects of implementing an ecological and forest monitoring program. The majority of time will be spent in the field, where activities will include comprehensive forest mensuration, vegetative classification, use of GPS equipment, data collection and entry, and other duties as required. In addition the technician will assist with various wildlife population surveys and management ranging from invasive species management, red-cockaded woodpecker management, quail covey call counts, southeastern kestrel reintroduction, quail crop analysis, and other duties as required. The worker will also assist with the general maintenance of the laboratory space and equipment. Salary: | $7.00 per hour with on-site housing; $9.00 per hour with off-site housing |
