Description: | A crew of summer field employees will conduct detailed botanical surveys on Sierra Pacific Industries' timberlands under the supervision of a botany crew leader. Surveys may be conducted on multiple areas of the SPI ownership, so the Botanical Survey Technician must be willing to travel. The successful applicant will be able to work in remote field conditions and hike steep slopes over rocky ground. Technicians must also be willing to work full days surveying open ground in summer weather conditions.
Duties of the Botanical Survey Technician may include but are not limited to:
Plant identification of California flora to family, genus and species.
Measuring and recording topographic and geological characteristics of a site.
Survey THP areas for rare plant species.
Measuring canopy using various instruments.
Navigating forest roads using a map.

Benefits: | Meals and lodging will be provided by SPI of the employee is assigned to work from a location other than his or her base. Housing stipend may be available for qualified out of area applicants.
