Description: | I am looking for 2 technicians to conduct breeding bird surveys (May 2005 to early June 2005) on the Atlantic Coastal Plain of southern North Carolina. Technicians will conduct spot map and point count surveys on private timber property in Craven Co. and Brunswick Co. in North Carolina as part of a graduate research project studying the effects of loblolly pine (Pinus taeda) management on wildlife communities. Applicants will be required to quickly identify eastern songbirds by both sight and sound. Previous surveying experience is required. The field sites consist of 5 year old loblolly pine stands that are loaded with dense vegetation, biting insects, and extreme heat and humidity, which make for a physically demanding work environment. Applicants must be in good physical condition and highly motivated to work under these conditions. |
