Other: | Applicants must be full-time students majoring in Forest Management, Natural Resource Management or Forest Engineering. Applicants should have a basic understanding of forestry and map reading and be familiar with the use of basic forestry equipment, i.e., hand compass, clino, diameter tape, relaskop, etc. Applicants must be willing and able to work in steep, uneven or broken terrain, inclement weather conditions and under strenuous physical conditions. Computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets, experience with GIS and GPS are beneficial, but not required. Extended travel with overnight stays may be required. Per diem will be provided in such situations. |

Description: | Intern positions work with a 2-3 person pre-sales team within the Timber Sales Program. Interns assist field foresters in identifying, reconning and laying out potential timber sale areas; developing silvicultural prescriptions; identifying and laying out riparian and wetland management zones boundaries; and, inputting and updating data into a Planning & Tracking database system. Interns may also work with a timber cruiser, wildlife biologist, forest engineer, forest practice forester, and regional cartographer if opportunities are available. |
Salary: | $1,873-$2,690 per month - Salary is based on each student’s class standing. |
