Description: | Several graduate assistantships for MS or PHD candidates are available immediately (2006) with both teaching and research responsibilities. Potential research projects may include: Artificial Regeneration Practices for Mixed Species Plantings, Forest Stand Dynamics and Regeneration Following Different Cutting Practices, Implementation of Best Management Practices (BMPs), Tennessee Master Logger Program, Intermediate Treatments for Table Mountain Pine Stands, Silvicultural Practices to Rehabilitate Degraded Hardwood Stands. These projects are excellent opportunities to gain applied, on-the-ground forestry experience and to make contacts with forestry professionals and potential employers. Publication of results and presentation of the research at a professional meeting is expected. |
Salary: | PHD Assistantships pay a minimum of $16k/yr for 3 yrs and the MS assistantships pay $12.5k for 2 yrs |
