Bachelor’s degree in business, natural resources management or related field and three years related work experience.

Preference for applicants that have a familiarity with GIS application, particularly ArcView 3.x or ArcGIS 9.

DISCRETION/LATITUDE/DECISION-MAKING:
Duties are performed under minimal supervision. Consults with manager in event of any unusual circumstance, problem or question that falls outside of general acquisition practices.
May negotiate contracts that bind the Conservancy legally and/or financially. Decisions sometimes affect staff in other program areas and may affect the image of TNC with the public, conservation partners and government agencies.
Exercise independent judgement. Work affords significant opportunity to act independently on acquisitions and make decisions within tight timeframes and under pressure.
RESPONSIBILITY/OVERSIGHT –FINANCIAL & SUPERVISORY:
May supervise administrative staff, interns, and volunteers.
Complete projects making sound financial decisions.
COMMUNICATIONS/INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
Communication and presentation skills; ability to persuasively convey the mission of TNC to diverse groups including landowners, donors, board members, the public and others.
Work and communicate with a wide range of people from various backgrounds, including landowners with perspectives that may vary widely.
Ability to function productively as a member or leader of a team.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Ability to work in variable weather conditions, remote locations and often in physically demanding circumstances.
Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, current insurance and reliable personal vehicle available for work use.
Ability to work an irregular schedule including weekends and unpredicted schedule changes.
Work requires extreme physical exertion and/or physical strain to the point of physical fatigue. Work environment involves exposure to job hazard’s where there is a high possibility of injury.

Description: | ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for assisting in the implementation of a comprehensive program to protect natural communities and species by coordinating the Conservancy’s real estate acquisition efforts. Develops and completes project packages. Coordinates hazardous waste assessments, surveys, appraisals, and other tasks necessary to finalize land protection projects. Also includes contacting and negotiating with property owners to apply a full range of conservation tools. Works collaboratively with other protection staff, legal staff, landowners, real estate professionals and government agencies. May supervise administrative staff, interns or volunteers.
GA CHAPTER REQUIREMENTS
Responsible for assisting the Director of Protection in the implementation of a comprehensive program to protect natural communities and species by coordinating the Georgia Chapter’s real estate acquisition efforts using a full range of conservation tools.
Assist the Director of Protection with the development of project packages, procurement of necessary due diligence and other tasks necessary to implement strategic program goals. Manage and update the Comprehensive Land System (CLS) data base.
Respond to private property owners regarding their interest in land protection.
Work closely and collaboratively with Georgia Chapter conservation and legal staff and government agencies.
Prepare reports and evaluate and enhance data collection and dissemination to TNC staff and conservation partners in Georgia.
Knowledge of land acquisition procedures and policies of TNC, the state of Georgia and other conversation partners.
Ability to develop and implement protection tools appropriate to individual projects.
Knowledge of standard options, purchase and sale agreements, and conservation easements for application in Georgia.
