The successful candidate is required to have: * A Ph.D. degree in the natural resource sciences or related field. * A record of scholarly achievements, grantsmanship, and qualifications for appointment as a tenured, full professor in the School of Natural Resources. It is preferred the successful candidate have: * An understanding and appreciation of holistic relationships among earth, water, atmospheric, and biological resources including conservation and use perspectives associated with production agriculture and contemporary ecological and environmental issues. * Knowledge and commitment to the teaching, research, extension education, and public service missions of a land-grant institution. * A demonstrated record of leadership, communication and listening skills, and content expertise to further strong cohesive working groups within and beyond the School and to integrate different disciplines to focus on a common vision. Documented success in integrating a large, diverse organization with an orientation towards natural resources, ecology and the environment would be preferred. * Documentation of the ability to work successfully with regional, national and international organizations, governmental agencies, political leaders and other decision makers, and diverse clientele. * A demonstrated record of commitment to and plans of achieving diversity for faculty, staff and students.

Description:
Director, School of Natural Resources (SNR). This is a 12-month, full-time administrative appointment that provides leadership for the teaching, research, extension education, public service and international activities in SNR. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to administer an annual state-funded budget of about $5.5 million and a multi-disciplinary faculty (65), support staff (75), with 87 graduate students (65 from SNR programs and 22 from other programs with SNR faculty advisors) and more than 200 undergraduate students encompassing fields in atmosphere, water, life sciences, and earth sciences. The SNR Director reports to the lead Dean within the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR), and interacts with the IANR Deans’ Council as well as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences on matters related to the School. Responsibilities: The Director will lead SNR in teaching, research, extension education, public service, and international activities and provide fiscal and administrative leadership to the School’s multi-disciplinary faculty and staff as SNR embarks on the most dynamic period of its existence as a leader in natural resources and environmental sciences. Duties include but are not limited to:
* Promoting and enhancing multi-disciplinary teamwork within SNR.
* Coordinating and participating in undergraduate and graduate student recruitment and retention activities of SNR.
* Facilitating faculty efforts to secure external funding to support the School’s programs, program planning and implementation.
* Facilitating faculty and staff recruitment, professional development and retention, including annual evaluation, promotion and tenure.
* Developing and administering the budget and facilities.
* Collaborating with the SNR faculty advisory committee and standing committees.
* Initiating, developing and maintaining effective working relationships with state and federal agencies, non-governmental organizations, decision-makers, and diverse clientele from throughout Nebraska.
* Coordinating with administrators of other units, organizations, and agencies with faculty and staff affiliated with the School.
