Other: | The districts are looking for folks who truly enjoy hard, rugged field work. Crew members should have basic aerial photograph, map and compass skills. Experience with forestry measurement tools such as diameter tapes and clinometers are also desired. Crew members need to work well with others and independently. These jobs are physically strenuous involving walking for long periods of time in rough, remote terrain in all weather conditions. |

Description: | The Grand Valley and Paonia Ranger Districts plan to hire up to 5 seasonal Forestry Technicians for the Timber Marking crew. Major duties of the Timber Marking crew include marking trees (aspen and spruce/fir) for cut or leave, marking sale area boundaries, taking tree measurements, and performing common stand exams. The districts are also recruiting for the Insect & Disease crew (up to three people) in either the Biological Technician or Forestry Technician job series. Major duties of the Insect & Disease crew include hazard tree analysis in campgrounds and spruce beetle surveys. The Insect & Disease crew will also assist with marking timber sales as needed. |

Benefits: | Government housing may be available at remote guard stations on the National Forests. During the workweek you will be stationed in remote guard stations or travel trailers. Depending on the projection location, you will be asked to move housing location |
