B.S. degree in Forestry from SAF accredited University
One year experience in forestry
Knowledge, abilities, and skills:
Knowledge and skill in:
forest management practices and techniques
supervisory practices and procedures
fire prevention and suppression theories and methods
laws affecting fire control and forestry management
urban forestry practices
Ability to:
plan, organize, and oversee the work of subordinates
analyze and assess needs of fire prevention, fire suppression, insect and disease control, and utilization practices
demonstrate timber management methods and practices of fire lane construction, tree marking, and planting methods
direct fire suppression activities
Other requirements:
frequent twenty-four hour on-call duty and frequent exposure to hazardous conditions while fighting fires and marking timber is required
AFC Residency policy: Forest Rangers and County Foresters must live in their area of responsibility or within fifteen road miles of their assigned work center
Forest Rangers, County Foresters, State Forest Foreman, Forest Technicians, and AFC Investigators must meet physical fitness standards annually. |
