Considerable field work (walking and hiking in all weather conditions). General office conditions. Must be able to pass the fire fighter pack test at the arduous level.

Job characteristics

Supervises and manages area staff; supervises the delivery of various programs and services to customers within a specific geographical area; provides lead responsibility for the planning and delivery of forestry, fire and sovereign land management actions at the local level effectively utilizing available resources; coordinates with other state, federal and local agencies as well as the general public and other cooperators/customers.



Tasks

Manages one or more statewide or agency wide program(s). Determines program goals and objectives and/or chairs committees established to support the program. Develops and directs forestry management, sovereign land management, and/or land development programs. Supervises subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions. Develops appropriate safety and/or service plans to alleviate risk, provide protection, etc. Performs firefighting and rescue services. Manages accounting or budget activities and provides fiscal information. Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written materials. Furnishes the public with information on the objectives and activities of a state agency.


Salary:
Step 48 ($ 17.26) to Step 65 ($ 27.38)
