molecular systematics environment, with working knowledge of standard
molecular lab protocols. Neatness, attention to detail, good organizational skills
and ability to manage people are a must. Occasional weekend/evening hours will
be necessary. |

Description: | The molecular technologist will
contribute to a variety of conservation genetic projects involving a wide-variety
of terrestrial and aquatic organisms. Examples include the study of the genetics
of endemism, landscape genetics, and various phylogenetic and phylogeographic
projects.
Specific responsibilities will be standard molecular lab work (e.g. DNA isolation,
PCR, sample preparation for sequencing, editing sequence data and scoring
fragment markers).General responsibilities will include
maintaining databases, overseeing lab duties, assisting in student training, and
ordering supplies. Opportunities to assist in fieldwork will also be available. |
