Applicant must be a full-time student (12+ credits/quarter) majoring in Forest Engineering, Forest Products, Forest Operations, Forest Design, Civil Engineering or related fields and will be returning to school the following fall quarter/semester. Note: Students graduating in June 2006 do not qualify for the Natural Resource Engineer Intern position (please call or email for more information on permanent employment opportunities). DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred candidates’ course work/planned course work includes: • Low volume road design • General surveying • Timber harvesting • Hand drafting or computer aided drafting (i.e. AutoCAD) • Microsoft office products

Description:
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Engineering Division, is seeking
qualified candidates interested in a summer internship position. This position is designed to
give students majoring in Forest Engineering, Forest Products, Forest Operations, Forest
Design, Civil Engineering or related fields basic work experience in road location and design,
hydraulic survey and design and timber sale layout. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Assist the region engineering staff in a variety of duties that may include: road location survey
and design, timber sale reconnaissance, bridge/culvert site survey, road inventory, contract
compliance, cadastral land surveying and miscellaneous other engineering duties as required.
Actual job duties will vary by region.

Benefits:
Sophomore and under: $1519 - $1696 per month;
Junior: $1696 - $1873 per month;
Senior: $1873 - $2221 per month;
Graduate student: $2221 - $2690 per month
