The Southern Forest Economics Workers (SOFEW) 2008 Annual Meeting will be hosted by the University of Georgia’s Center for Forest Business in Savannah, GA, from March 9 to 11, 2008. The theme of this year’s workshop is “Forestland Ownership Change in the South: Implications for Management, Production, and Conservation.” Submissions on this theme are welcome as well as other aspects of forest economics and policy, particularly those relevant to the southern United States.
Abstracts for all papers should be submitted to Jacek Siry via email (jsiry@warnell.uga.edu) by January 21, 2008. Please put “SOFEW Submission – Your Last Name” in the subject of your email and include all the required information in the body of the email (not as an attached document). Include the following information in your submission: (1) the type of submission – Oral Presentation or Poster, (2) the title of the submission, (3) the author(s) and their affiliations, (4) the corresponding author’s mailing address, telephone number, fax number, and email address, and (5) the abstract of 250 words or less.
Acceptance notices will be sent electronically to submitting authors by January 31, 2008. We hope that contributors making an oral presentation will develop a paper for the conference proceedings. Final version of the proceedings’ papers will be due on June 1, 2008. Guidelines are provided below. Oral presentations will be given 25 minutes, with an additional 5 minutes allotted for questions. Posters will be displayed throughout the conference. A plaque will be given to the best student presentation and best student paper.
