CAPPS Project #3

Localizing Growth and Yield Models for Intensively Managed Loblolly Pine

Objectives

1) To establish a database that will be used to study leaf area dynamics throughout a given year and across years using the best leaf area estimates available (results from CAPPS project #1).

2) To develop models that represent leaf area development within and across years for acid rain study plots.

3) To identify and classify soils at all "acid rain" study locations, including identification of SCS soil series and CRIFF group, and use this information in growth and yield model development if possible.

4) Use all existing weather data for the acid rain installations in growth and yield model development.

5) Evaluate the effectiveness and gain in growth estimation accuracy associated with incorporation of leaf area measures, soils information, and weather information into operationally useful whole stand growth and yield models.
